Monthly roundup, February 2020 | Northern.tech

February was a busy month at Northern.tech. Here’s a roundup of all we’ve been up to!

Config management camp + FOSDEM

A few of our team traveled to Belgium for FOSDEM and Configuration Management Camp. FOSDEM (Free and Open Source Software Developers' European Meeting) is a huge event for software developers to meet, share ideas and collaborate, with the main purpose of promoting free and open source software. We went from there to Configuration Management Camp where we were mainly representing CFEngine – see Ole Herman and Vratislav’s talk below – while Mirza spoke about the challenges of device management in IoT.

As always it was a great chance to meet some of our community and discuss current trends and the future of our products.

Mender planning week

Back in Oslo we invited our remote team to the office for two days of planning and social events. We had a busy agenda of planning Mender 2.4, before spending the evening with a fun activity – curling! Congrats to the red team on their victory!

Product releases

We were happy to release CFEngine patch releases as well as Mender 2.3 beta this month, with even more release activity on the horizon during March.

Embedded World, Nuremburg

Some of the Mender team traveled to Embedded World 2020 to host a booth and present talks, as well as to meet current and potential users (and possibly sample the German pilsner!).

Say hi to a new (official!) member of the team

Finally, we were able to welcome Igor to officially join the Northern.tech team as a remote full-stack developer. He has already been doing great work for us as an external consultant for a while, so we were glad to be able to recruit him full time. Welcome!
